PREFACE
This book is for you!
A freshman walked up
to our Be the Star You Are! charity
booth at a high school outreach event and asked if I was Cynthia
Brian. When I responded, “Yes”, she went on to say how much my first
book of this series, Be the Star You
Are! 99 Gifts for Living, Loving, Laughing, and Learning to Make a
Difference, had inspired her. “When are you publishing a book for
teens? That would be awesome!” she continued. I regularly receive
emails, letters, and calls from teenagers all across America expressing
similar sentiments. It was time to take action.
That day I emailed my
literary agent and immediately began writing the book. Keeping the same
format as the first book, I decided to invite other writers to participate
in this venture. After all, I had successfully coauthored the New York
Times best seller, Chicken Soup for
the Gardener’s Soul, where we read over 5,000 submissions, editing
and rewriting 101 of them. I envisioned a book for teens, about teens, by
teens.
How could I help teens
be more successful? What were their major concerns? What type of book
would they want to read? Since my specialty is coaching youth on acting,
writing, presentations, and life skills, I immediately asked clients for
feedback. Most of the volunteers of the charity, Be the Star You Are! are
teenagers so I had an attentive focus group. Through brainstorming, radio
interviews, talking, listening, and reading, this book was born.
Each chapter is by
intention very short. You can easily finish it in a few minutes. In every
segment you’ll find a true story (although some names have been changed)
with a simple and fun exercise on how you can implement the lesson into
your life, plus a quote to inspire you for the day. You’ll discover your
passions, conquer your fears, and learn to communicate to accomplish your
dreams and goals. Think of me as your guide on the side who believes in
you and cheers you to the finish line.
Pick up the book and
turn to any page. Be assured that wherever you stop, this is the specific Gift you need for today. It’s like magic, miracles, and hope all
in one package geared specifically for your issues and concerns. There are
free bonuses just for you at the
back of the book, so make sure you check out the web site. With this purchase of Be
the Star You Are! for TEENS, you receive the added feel good
advantage of knowing that you are making a difference in the lives of
other teens around the planet because the proceeds benefit Be the Star You
Are! 501, c3 charity, empowering youth through improved literacy and
positive media.
We hope you’ll share
Be the Star You Are! for TEENS
and heed the wisdom in the Gifts. Give the book as a gift to motivate a
friend. Buy copies for your school or library. Organize a book club to
discuss the treasures hidden inside. As we like to say, “To be a leader,
you must be a reader. Read, lead, succeed!”
Uncover and discover
your inner genius with this teen survival guide.
I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing,
compiling, and editing it. We’d all love to hear your thoughts. Thank
you for being part of our galaxy. Be the star YOU
are!
This
book is for you. Major in success. Read
on!
